Grand Haven – January 2017
It’s a Great Time to be a resident or friend of Grand Haven with the latest news of winning “the happiest and healthiest seaside town in the United States”. Most people agree that it is a popular destination and community to live, especially in the summer. Even the winter is getting more fun with the Winter-fest activities occurring this weekend in downtown Grand Haven. Last weekend was memorable when it was 57 degrees and sunny last Saturday January 21 where hundreds of “Havenites” were lined up hours to get their “Pronto Pup”. One of the great things about this ritual last Saturday was that the profits were given to “Save The Catwalk” which is very cool. If there is one thing that defines Grand Haven is the kind and generous spirit of all that make up this lakeshore town. Over the last 60 years I’ve witnessed countless examples of community spirit and charitable projects. I’ve seen two Save the Catwalk campaigns and will be almost 90 years old if there is a third one.
Speaking of age, SurfGrandHaven.com will be ten years old in July this year, and I am very grateful for the kind words of all the people who enjoy keeping an eye on the lake throughout the year. Of course it is the numerous sponsors of the area who have kept the webcam funded for all these years. It is great to see all of the local businesses that represent Grand Haven as local business owners and residents of this town.
Starting this year, SurfGrandHaven is expanding the partner page to all businesses who want to be affiliated with supporting the webcam and listed on SurfGrandHaven. For a small fee to pay for preparing a digital business card, all businesses are welcome on the website. In addition, if individuals want to show their support for being able to use the webcam, everyone is welcome to have their digital identification card on the website. All money collected above the cost of operating SurfGrandHaven will be given to “Save the Catwalk”.
Thank you everyone for making SurfGrandHaven one of the most popular webcams around. EarthCam, who provides technical support, has listed the webcam as a “top ten” in their world network which is really amazing. I guess it is pretty special to be a part of “the happiest and healthiest seaside town in America!
